A Day of Discovery at
the Long Island Children’s Museum
Our students recently enjoyed a day of hands-on
learning and exploration at the Long Island Children’s Museum!
The visit began with a special opportunity to step inside the News 12 newsroom set,
where the children got a closer look at the world of television news.
From there, they spent the day exploring the museum’s many interactive exhibits,
with something new to discover around every corner.
The children paddled a dugout canoe, built their own wooden structures,
and explored a cozy log cabin.
They also experimented with retro telephone switchboards, worked through puzzles on a light table,
and tested out air tubes to see how moving air could carry objects from one place to another.
One of the highlights was posing alongside the museum’s black bear exhibit!
Throughout the visit, the children had opportunities to
ask questions, experiment, solve problems, and work together.
Each activity offered a different way to learn through play,
encouraging curiosity and creativity while making lasting memories with their classmates.
BCCA is grateful to the Long Island Children’s Museum for welcoming our children
and providing such a memorable day of discovery.
Experiences like these bring learning beyond the classroom and give our children
new ways to explore the world around them.
