CORY MOELIS, BOARD MEMBER

Cory Moelis grew up in Los Angeles, CA, before moving to New York City. Moelis graduated from The Wharton School, University of Pennsylvania, in 2011 with an undergraduate degree and later earned his MBA at Wharton in 2018.

Moelis worked in investment banking at Moelis & Company and then founded the online gaming company, Derby.com, a horse racing platform that helps new players across the game. Currently, he is General Partner at Ground Up Ventures, a venture capital fund focused on early stage investing. He has invested in over 50 companies touching all aspects of technology.

Moelis has always drawn to Thoroughbreds and he was fortunate to be able to visit his grandparents, Herb and Ellen Moelis, at their farm, CandyLand. Since then, he has been actively involved in the industry as an owner and currently races horses based in Kentucky and New York.

Moelis is passionate about BCCA's mission, believing that access to education from a young age is paramount to children's development. Moelis also serves on the Thoroughbred Education and Research Foundation board.
